she makes the piano, an instrument i never appreciated, a sexy, beautiful, and exquisite musical experience.

one of the many songs i love for evanescence, with an amazing video, and of course, the strong, yet soothing voice of the great Amy Lee.. enjoy!

why do people hope? why do we hold on to hope like naive innocent children when we know there is a (big) chance of disappointment? what is it about the thought of a better tomorrow or the thought of things working out like you’ve painted them in your head that keeps us going in life? or is it just a ray of light to hold onto through the darkest hours? could it be that hope is corelated to faith? our faith in God lets us know we will be ok, and keeps us sane, and keeps us from ending our lives.. so is hope a form of faith?

i sometimes think i shouldnt hope anymore, for anything! i had a lot of disappointments and was mad at my Creator many times (may He forgive me)… however, i still find myself hoping and wishing..

why on earth do women feel the need to open their mouthes wide open when applying eye makeup??

its like this natural reflex, which makes us look like TOTAL idiots!

after being in the blogosphere since december 06, i have a general idea of almost every character there is out there occupying a bit of globospheric space.. and since i am bored out of my skull today although i have SO much work but too depressed to work, i have come up with a short list of new tags/categories that i feel i will be seeing soon in the jordanian blogosphere:

the yuckiest part of any holiday, is when you go back to work! seriously, the days seem to be longer, it takes forever for the week to pass by and get to the weekend, and THEN the weekend passes u by like a sneeze! sigh..

have a good one peeps 🙂

Cartoon!

Posted: June 12, 2008 in bla bla bla, boredom, fun, random

there is always some sort of super evil bad guy who is a grade A A-hole in any cartoon. teaching kids bout the good and evil of the world at the youngest age possible i guess.. anyVay, here’s my list of bad bad wolves of animation 🙂 (feel free to share yours)

5. Brutus (aka Bluto):

This guy is the epitome of the bully, large, and crude. Of course, merely being a bully doesn’t get you on this list… Bluto is the kind of guy who will go and try and steal your girlfriend every time even if she’s an ugly skinny chick!!

4. Black Pete (or just Pete):

Pete was the nemesis of Mickey Mouse (yes, i used to watch mickey mouse when i was a kid) and used to hate this guy! He then later became the sworn enemy of Donald Duck (love him!). Pete was large and ever the villian, picking on Mickey and his friends for no real reason other than to show that he was bigger and stronger than them little ones.. what a bully!

3. Eric Cartman (Southpark): (& please no hate mail lol)

Cartman is a spoiled only child of a mother who smothers him with attention and food, he’s a greedy manipulative being, is a smartass and a foul-mouthed little brat, is vindictive & shallow, AND a liar, a cheat, a smug winner, & a backstabber! and that makes him the best example of bastarditude!

2. Mr Burns: (dont tell me you didnt see this one coming!)

It pains me to put Burnsy on this list but despite the fact that i like him, i cant deny his evilness! Can you imagine what would it feel if you worked for someone for 15 years and he still couldnt remember your name?! The greedy 108 year old cracks me up however!

1. Stewie!

Stewie is probably the most bastardly baby in the known universe!! With his eyes set on global domination and with killing the woman who gave birth to him, one must shutter at the very real threat that this toddler poses to the world. With his lust for power, penchant for murder, and his devilish ability to get away with it all, Stewie will forever go down in cartoon history as one of the most vicious characters of all time!!

well folks, im back, but i have LOADS of work, and one of my colleagues (the nice one sadly) quit!! now i am stuck with that annoying one, and my boss. (boss shuf) and 3 upcoming additions to the team.. hope at least ONE yetla3 bani2adam! im sick of coming to a quiet office where the only words spoken are irritating ones.. either uncalled for compliments from my Garaf colleague, or micromanagement tips from my boss. sigh..!
Healthwise i am doing great thank God. i should have done this a long time ago but then again, all in good time. i miss blogging… i havent much to blog about but i miss blabbering 😛
i leave you with this saying which i love, and always remember when times are tough..
    ضاقت فلما استحكمت حلقاتها
فرجت و كنت اظنها لن تفرج

been meaning to write this for a while since i get to see so many people every day, most of them at my office building are so elegant and very polished, but there are a few misses.. and when i go out, i see the ultimate fashion crimes everywhere! i dont understand is it me who thinks that these things are a fashion faux pas or are people really clueless or do they simply not care what others think of what they’re wearing? i donno, i think everyone should at LEAST be color coordinated and neat. anyway.. Here goes my list of donts:

1. oversized clothes: why??? why do u wanna wear jeans 3 sizes larger and have it land on your lap thinking you’re the new homie in the fereej! or wear a super XXXlarge shirt when you’re a size 10 petite girl? you really dont HAVE to wear second skin, but something fitting not something that can fit your whole neighbourhood!

2. The couple-of-sizes-tighter-jeans: as opposed to point 1 but still talking bout wrong fits, why cant people familiarize themselves with their REAL size? we do not need to see your love handles escaping your jeans looking like a muffin top coz you still think you can fit into size 8 jeans! you dont, live with it!

3. The Mommy Jeans: bleh! the most stuck-in-the-80s, unflattering look ever for such a gorgeous material! if you’re a mom, and have your kangaroo pouch, invest in a boot leg cut jeans, they will give you height, and if they are dark in color, they will make you look thinner, as opposed to the Mommy Jeans that will only grab attention at the belly area and even if you dint have one, it will create it with all the creases. (couldnt find a picture for the mom jeans, but you know them! waist up to the neck, million creases in the front, and tapered down to the ankles! eww!)

4. tye dye.. i personally love them, but only when they are one color in different shades blended nicely, or at most 2 colors that really go well together. the look of a rainbow throwing up on you isnt funky..

5. revealing shoes on ugly toes: please PLEASE spare the world the horrific sight and invest in mules or something! ugly toes are such a turn off yuk! if you have it flaunt it, thats the saying, if you dont, please itteb3o maqoulet il rasoul: itha buletum fa istatirou! and definetly no pics! eww!

6. caked makeup at 10 AM: less is more really. especially with makeup. i see little 16 year old having 10 kgs of makeup in the mall. IT DOES NOT COMPLIMENT YOUR FEATURES! the marilyn manson look is a complete no-no people! makeup should highlight your best features, or hide any blemishes or breakouts or excess freckles or anything you find unappealing and would like to hide it softly. i just wish people would use it wisely! (zhe2et ma bidi 7o6 pic!)

7. VPL and VBS: yes, visible panty lines and visible bra straps. need i say more? (no pics!)

what do you think of the following:

a smart mouth is a lonely mouth (or as it is in slang: a smart ass is a lonely ass)

even at a hospital! i dowanna advertize, but Emirates Hospital is surely the best i have been to, and i have been to a lot! the nurses are amazing, the doctors so friendly, and i even enjoyed the usually terrible and hurl-inducing gastroendoscopy!

i SO believe that client servicing is not a job, its something you are born with. you cant fake it, you cant learn it even! its attitude and character. and maybe because i have been in client relationship and customer service for many years (6 to be exact, and i was/am still awarded for performance excellency) and i somehow -foolishly- expect at least GOOD service from people. i donno why.. but it never is. or maybe its just not what i would do. isnt it funny?

sometimes i wonder why are we always not happy when someone doesnt do things the way we do, like say driving! once we become drivers, we cant be satisfied with anyone’s way of driving.. excel sheets are a nightmare if someone else formatted and built them from scratch and you would have an updating job to do.. or maybe its just me 😐

isnt it ironic

that the things we live for are the same things we could die for?

1. total a car, yes im a mad driver, but never thought i would total a car! especially when it was brand new!! YuB, December 07.

2. break a heart, i never saw myself as a heartbreaker.. but apparently i am capable of it! as the Raven says repeatedly, Nevermore, Nevermore!

3. Lose 127 lbs and 5 dress sizes, well i never planned to have myself a medical condition and HAVE to gain all that much (and more) and lose them eventually, but im so glad i did, its a blessing from God. everything is.

4. bungee jump thrice. i am a person with many phobias, one of which is being ungrounded, thats why i dont swim, or ride horses.. but for sum reason, free falling, bungee jumping, parachuting and paragliding are all on my list of fave outdoor activities! Magno 😀

5. win a poetry competition, especially when i didnt even submit my poetry myself! back in school (i was 13 bw) i had an amazing english teacher who i entrusted with some of my writings so she would guide me and point out what i should do to make them better, she fell in love with one, and sent it on my behalf and i actually won 3rd place! got it published through the National Library of Poetry in Washington, and was flown over to recite it infront of 5000 people. crazy or what!

6. have a blog, yes, im a private person, and never thought of having a public journal! even though i do not discuss the every detail of my life, but still this is something i never foresaw myself doing..

7. become a vegetarian, especially since i was the ultimate carnivore 7 years ago! i donno i guess i just got over saturated 😐 i still get forced by my doctor to eat red meat from time to time, but if it were up to me (and if i were anemia free) i wudnt go near my fellow mammals!

so what would be on YOUR list?

top ten jobs

Posted: April 29, 2008 in around the world, bla bla bla, boredom, random

that pay around (and over) 100,000 $ p.a.:

1. Marketing Manager: if you can grow sales, maintain great rapport, ‘radar’ potential markets and possess an MBA, you’re likely to earn a 6 figure easily.

2. Health Services Manager: combine a healthcare administration degree, with ten years of experience and you could easily earn 110,000 $ in the US.

3. Information Systems Manager: IT has got to be (along with construction) one of the best paying fields. CIO’s get paid 6 figure salaries minimum.

4. Financial Manager: MBA in finance is a good way to ensure a good pay.. im planning for that, but an MBA is a pending project right now..

5. Human Resources Manager: HR managers usually earn hefty bonuses! of course an HR management degree plus an MBA is required.

6. Fashion Designer: one of the things i wanned to do with my life lol. individuality, creativity, uniqueness, social skills and the right contacts will bring a designer fame and fortunes in this field.

7. Court reporter: initially this job pays about 50k, but since its very demanding, overtime pays almost what the salary does! so they end up in many states making a 6 figure salary.

8. Computer Application Development Manager: this job involves a lot of small team leading and delivering projects on specific deadlines, its a job where leadership pays! too bad i dont like IT :-/ lol

9. Nursing Supervisor: all this requires is a bachelor of Science in Nursing. and targeting excellent hospitals of course..

10: Education Administrator: One who can provide quality assurance and demonstrate people skills and holds a masters degree in education administration of course…

so there you have it, i dint expect some of them but these are jobs that pay in the USA.

random blabber

part of my job description is to call up clients in the US and UK and leave voice mail messages of news headlines that interest us and the latest updates on the stocks we cover. and its amazing how different these two groups of ppl are! in the US, voicemail is huge! not one of the 180+ clients on my database doesnt have voicemail, as opposed to the UK ppl, almost 40% of them dont have it.. i guess the brits dont like listening to anyone’s talk! i’ve always prefered americans to brits.. i cant stand how uptight and chronically polite they are.. but this excercise made me realize that americans are indeed more social and chirpy by nature!

most US clients outgoing msg: Hi, you’ve reached X Y Z from 1 2 3, i am currently away from my desk, please feel free to leave a detailed msg after the beep, thank you and have a good day.

most UK clients outgoing msg if there is one since most of them are those generic recorded stuff ‘extension so and so is not available’ : you’ve reached X WOY Z from 1 2 3, i am not around, please leave your name and a brief msg after the tone. one of them clients actually says: it would be better if you email me rather than leave a msg, but if you need to do so leave one after the tone… (how mistagle3 is that!)

w what i cant still figure out is, are people with full mailboxes all the time really THAT busy? or are they just negligent?

scientists are predicting another 20-30 years of life for frogs around the world.. did u know there are more than 50 different types of frogs? well, there are.. and those species all together have been introduced somehow to a fungal disease recently that is not treatable, and its spreading quite fast.. so unless scientists find a cure to this epidemic if we might call it so, frogs will soon be extinct..

can u imagine that? flies will reproduce like mad along with all other insects frogs feed on, and all those insects will come together and form an evil force of biting, picking, and blood sucking creatures that will rule the world!! sci-fi didi carried away 😀

but seriously, do u imagine science subjects your kids will have in the future will include a chapter on extinct animals that YOU actually witnessed or maybe even disected in class one day!

green tea, a fave of mine

Posted: April 15, 2008 in bla bla bla

and now it might become a fave of yours when you read the great things it does to your body! (and tips to make it do them even better!)

green tea is nature’s best anti oxident, so if u wanna keep a glow and age greacefully, green tea is ur best bet! also it flushes away toxins from ur body, which makes it ideal for people who r in the process of losing weight, it helps reduce water retention, green tea helps lower bad cholesterol levels and helps prevent tooth decay! (yes, less dentist time) also green tea helps prevent free radicals, a free radical is any molecular species capable of independent existence, that contains one or more unpaired electrons not contributing to intermolecular bonding, and is, in that sense, “free”, those can cause cancer, aging, DNA damage, and heart disease.. (extra info: smoking and alcohol increase free radicals).. green tea also helps an impaired immune system, in result, it helps prevent infections. there are many many benefits of green tea, and best of all is that it tastes great!

to bring out the best of green tea, the following should be done:

1. dont drink it scalding hot, or when it turns cold.
it is said that any scalding hot liquid that enters the stomach hurts it. so in general, let your beverages cool down a little before you gulp them! as for coolness, cold green tea is said to gather phlegm.

2. Dont drink green tea with meals or on an empty stomach.
drinking tea on an empty stomach causes coldness to enter the lung and stomach system according to traditional chinese medecine.. western medicine suggetss that the alkaline nature of tea conflicts with the acids produced by the stomach. so drinking tea with meals will cause indigestion to people with sensetive stomachs.

3. Dont drink green tea with alcohol or medication.
it can interact with certain medications so better safe than sorry! try to avoid drinking green tea with medications, better have it after 3 hours of taking a pill. also drinking tea closely with alcohol can damage the kidneys and it might cause problems to the sexual system (we dowant that!)

4. Dont drink too much.
as with everything else, drink green tea in moderation. (3 cups is ideal per day).

there you have it! the nutrition post of the month 😀

no not the name, but meaning ‘my thobe’ الثوب الخليجي يعني

a friend of a friend has recently participated in Dubai Fashion Week, introducing his unique revolutionary interpretation of the traditional crisp white thobe. and i actually like it, thus, sharing it (not advertising it, just sharing it)! Personally i love black and navy thobes.. especially with a colored 7amdaniya..!

Hatem Al Akeel is a saudi designer, and already opened a boutique in Jeddah by the name of Toby.. its amazing how small things can blossom into passions and later on into careers.  enjoy 🙂

Man-Age-r

Posted: April 8, 2008 in bla bla bla, rant

ok why is it that most managers these days are complete jerks? the younger they are the worse it gets! seriously! my current boss is the worst i have ever met.. and he is only 34..!! i think being only 34 and now having become an MD for MENA Equities for the biggest bank in the world is a big thing.. but whatever happened to being humble bout your acheivements??? being nice to your subordinates?? being considerate and human for a change!?!?!? i mean.. in all my previous jobs, my bosses were amazing il7amdila.. my first full time job was also with a bank, in a team of 4, with a very reputed and ‘mehyoob’ 32 y.o. man as a boss, but he was the sweetest thing when it came to the team! he was supportive, funny as hell, and a great listener.. and when it came to work, he was strict yet not suffocating. as long as we did our job well, delivered everything on time, he was the happiest, and so were we.. i guess they dont make em this way anymore.. or maybe its the inferiority complex of the nationality i am dealing with right now!

i cant picture myself being the super-micro-managing boss one day, one who doesnt laugh or joke around with her colleagues, one who cant care for anything but numbers and figures.. i am a leader by nature, and i do want to be in upper management someday.. but if tension and pressure from the bosses senior to me will make me an inconsiderate ass, i seriously could do without..

1. Hong Kong: apparently having 4 of the 15 tallest towers in the world will make you the number 1 city!it is beautiful at night though, the magnificent architecture of the high rise buildings in hong kong is breath taking..

2. Chicago: ok im a little surprised since New York is the greatest city in the world in my green eyes! but Chicago was the birth of sky scrapers, surprisingly, they built the first sky scraper in chicago in 1885! the chicago park district is amazing, and the city at night, is a colorful masterpiece.

3. Shanghai: the beautiful city indeed.. although i would freak out and invest in a private jet to NOT drive over the crazy Nanpu bridge, i still cant deny its amazing. buildings are excessively tall, but beautifully designed and unique, and houses are authentic asian beauties..

4. New York: wall street, the opera house, the empire state building, lady liberty, Dylan’s candy shop!! ahhh.. New York, the home of new york cheesecake! this is MY favorite city ever.. noone knows why exactly, but NYC is the most charming city in the world. its on this list (i donno who came up with the list, i received it by email) because its versatile. the culture, the art, the music, the food, the places and faces of New York. i absolutely love it.

5. Tokyo: the most populated city by FAR! 32 million people! Technologically advanced, with great tall buildings, Japan is one of the most sophisticated asian countries, yet it still held on to its traditions. the cherry blossom festivals, the houses, the culture, the music, the geishas, its all so magical! (personally, i love the calligraphy!)

so… whats ur favorite city?

Posted: April 2, 2008 in bla bla bla, cars, life, observations

well u might have, i want to post a few of my favorite posts off the old blog.. sadly, the comments r not saved.. wont bore u a lot, its just i wanna keep my old stuff on this blog, since i deleted the first.. they’re only a few 😉

the indian guide to driving..

1. drive as slow as u can, even if u ARE on the left lane, just to irritate everyone around u, go home and smile at ur acheivement!
2. really be proud of ur suzuki 4×4 or any other car not classified as a hip 4×4 and think to urself ‘im the king of the world’ hence drive slowly as mentioned in point 1
3. have all the stuffed animals u can force into ur car, block all visibility and then back to point 1
4. should you be honked at/sworn at/given the finger/flashed all the highest levels of lights in the world, decide it might be another car and do not acknowledge the fury focused on u, and needless to say, keep driving slowly.
5. insist its called ‘veHicle’, stress on the H ..
6. should ur car be remotely scratched in a fender bender, never leave the scene and pull over to the side of the road, the bigger the traffic pile up the better u will feel bout it
7. always sport ur bluetooth device on the left ear and show off the technology u own to the world, it looks cool yaar!
8. ur allowed to stop at any point in the road to drop off/pick up someone from the sideway, the road is urs to abuse!
9. should someone be extremely pissed off at u and knocks on ur window to scream their tonsils off at u, dont even look at them and mind ur own business. keeping the straight face makes u the bigger person.
10. if ur on a bicycle, take any turn at any point and feel free to throw urself on any moving veHicle!

argggh!

if jordanians r considered the grumpiest of all arabs, the brits must be their counterpart in the west!

i’ve worked with them and i vowed never to ever again! 2 years of being the only arab in an office of 32 brits and 2 south africans (those r amazing tho).. i think the brits enjoy being sarcastic and miserable.. & i think its only coz they HAVE to focus on some1 else’s life and faults but their own coz they cant handle it… and their chronic politeness is the most annoying bit of it all!!! i hate dealing with fake ppl, and being THAT courteous is so not genuine. its almost revolting. id rather deal with blunt, in-ur-face ppl, ones who speak their mind all the time rather than ones who try so hard not to ‘hurt’ others with saying what they think, as if ppl r made out of glass..

why did they have to get us a new (and brittish) head of department!!! i was happy walla 😦
