Reality is the leading cause of stress amongst those in touch with it.
– Jane Wagner

there is not one single person i know or came across in this freaking city that has little or no amount of overwhelming stress to bear..

everyday is a race, with who? No one knows! but everyone is running in this place, everyone is after something, everyone wants more money, and also want more time to do more things with their lives.. but those cant be acheived together in most cases, so everyone is frustrated and depressed! from colleagues and friends to my sister’s friends and colleagues, to doctors you meet, or their nurses while you wait, or even while shopping and waiting at a shop’s counter you converse with someone and you can instantly see the tired look on their face and the heavy sigh when you ask them how is work..

we bankers feel the heat more, with the credit crunch and the market crashes and the real estate market in europe crashing and so many people being laid off everyday… everyone is in a competition for someone’s job!

it INDEED IS a jungle out there! and i wonder if its worth all this stress..

and i have no idea why the ‘bold’ font wont go away!

  2. asoom says:

We feel so stressed because we’ve lost sight of the big picture. In the hustle and bustle of the daily deadlines and appointments we forgot what’s really important and why we’re doing this.

Most of the things that cause us stress during our days aren’t going to even matter a year from now or even a month from now!

Is it all worth it? Every action is judged by it’s intention.

  4. I hope you are less-stressed today! Blogging is very restful to me. Reading your thoughts is restful also. It lets me know I’m not the only stressed one!

  5. Batoul says:

I believe for the first time in history what you speak of has become an international issue. We’re all facing the same damn dilemmas started by mankind and the consequences also returning to mankind.

  6. Verbal Alchemy says:

Asoom: u bet! we’d have new worries by then lol

and i agree, most people lost touch with what truly matters. and lost touch with their spirituality along the way..

  7. Verbal Alchemy says:

PingPong boy: ma fhemet? what do actions and intentions have to do with this? 😐

  8. Verbal Alchemy says:

Marv: even martians get stressed! 😀
thanks for the kind words, i feel better today yes, everyone needs to vent in their own way i guess..

  9. Verbal Alchemy says:

    Batoul: mankind 3amellna azmeh! blech!

  10. KJ says:

It isn’t worth the stress at all but we don’t have the guts to quit our jobs or slow down the pace or go against the flow. Because we don’t know what will happen if we do that but we know more or less what will happen if we continue .—> more stress + more pills

  11. Verbal Alchemy says:

    Naser: fair enuf 😀

  12. Verbal Alchemy says:

KJ: i dont think its bout guts, its more of we dont have a choice no? everyone has some amount of responsibilities, payments, bloody rent, all these wont get paid by guts..

and i hope ur talking bout chill pills here 😛

  13. mo says:

do u know where u are .. ur in the jungle baby .. the jungle welcome to te jungle :p

on a more serious note .. well the quran mentions that this world is unimportant and insignificant and is just a big illusion .. what matters is the afterlife i.e. mish mistahleh.

  14. neutron says:

“it INDEED IS a jungle out there! and i wonder if its worth all this stress..”

I was responding to your last thought … is it worth all the stress?? That depends … and I’d say entirely on your intention. Is it worth working like crazy, all day and all night only to buy the latest cell phone or laptop, … probably not. Take that same money and feed a poor family … priceless. Ultimately this boils down to each individual (i.e. each of us decide what it’s all worth) and hence, every action is judged by its intention.

How’s that?? Hopefully a little better.

  15. Verbal Alchemy says:

mo: i know, but sometimes what u know isnt what u practice so smoothly..

  16. Verbal Alchemy says:

Neutron: makes perfect sense thanks for the time 😀

  17. Ali says:

Am probably the least qualified person to give advice on stress-related issues (my classmates say I’ll die of a stress-induced heart attack at the age of 26 hmm). But I think having different outlets helps you forget about it all. I mean try to have a certain activity you do that makes you forget what causes you to be stress (for your case work, for mine study). It depends on the person, for me its playing squash and it does help.

    All the best 🙂

  18. Verbal Alchemy says:

Ali: I do have a LOOOOT of activities and hobbies and stuff i love to do, but i sometimes feel so mad at work (at my boss specifically) coz i dont get time to give attention to the stuff i love doing..

    thanks, back at u : )

  19. wonders says:

tell me about it!! 😦 this city is more stressful y3ne bkafe the trip back home at 6:00 PM wa3.

  20. anon says:

where do you suggest we should go?
because I’m really ready to go wherever it takes but it never helps if I am the reason of all the stress which is somehow the case here for me 😦

  21. Verbal Alchemy says:

wonders: i live in sharjah my dear, talk bout traffic! :smily bished sha3ro w sha3rek:

  22. Verbal Alchemy says:

anon: still trying to figure it out walla.. states, no way, europe ok but high taxes, asia is not the place for me, and africa, never thought bout it really 😐

You prolly worry too much and bring stress to you, so try to relax, coz life is short, and try to ease you inner stress, there’s enough external stress in the world!
