no not the name, but meaning ‘my thobe’ الثوب الخليجي يعني

a friend of a friend has recently participated in Dubai Fashion Week, introducing his unique revolutionary interpretation of the traditional crisp white thobe. and i actually like it, thus, sharing it (not advertising it, just sharing it)! Personally i love black and navy thobes.. especially with a colored 7amdaniya..!

Hatem Al Akeel is a saudi designer, and already opened a boutique in Jeddah by the name of Toby.. its amazing how small things can blossom into passions and later on into careers.  enjoy 🙂

and another vest (worn over thobe basically)

I always found it irritating seeing saudi men wearing those thoobs that are tight from the chest area!

  2. Verbal Alchemy says:

Sara: personally i love the emarati and kuwaiti thobes.. still i think these are quite cool.. edgy and modern.

and mind u, if it werent tight at the chest area, where else would it be tight at?? 😀

  3. hmm…well cool but i still prefer the traditional ones 🙂

  4. Verbal Alchemy says:

I like the three first pages.. and honestly think this designer is very creative to come up with such a thing. It’s keeping the traditions but in a modern way. Thanks for sharing.. I always like to be updated with such news 😀

  6. Dima: you’re most welcome sweets 🙂

  7. mo says:

  8. Verbal Alchemy says:

mo.. il nas azwaa2.. i like em, and in general ba7eb il tob il 5aleeji.

  9. sara says:

NO I meant they were really REALLY tight from the chest area.. Unliek teh emarati thobes..

They should be ‘ady, not tiiiiiiiiiiight :@

  10. Sultana says:

If u would allow me to share a thought, I just need to remind u all that there is a point of the traditional thoubs being white and not tight…It’s really hot, and colored are worn in winter (Which ever area in Saudi that is for 3 or so months only), and they can’t be tight(For people whom wear the thoub everyday), because they basically move, work, eat, while wearing them..

Don’t get me wrong, I like the designer’s ideas and I believe his touches could be focused more on items worn over the thoub, since most Saudi young men wear pants, jean, shirts and T-Shirts most days now!

Some accessories would work but let’s just leave the original as it is, as the Saudi thoub is still the most elegant looking thoub in Khaleej thoubs + it makes men look good (Wouldn’t u girls say that after u’ve seen ur guy in a pant suit which was covering a belly u’d rather have known about earlier?;))
