1. total a car, yes im a mad driver, but never thought i would total a car! especially when it was brand new!! YuB, December 07.

2. break a heart, i never saw myself as a heartbreaker.. but apparently i am capable of it! as the Raven says repeatedly, Nevermore, Nevermore!

3. Lose 127 lbs and 5 dress sizes, well i never planned to have myself a medical condition and HAVE to gain all that much (and more) and lose them eventually, but im so glad i did, its a blessing from God. everything is.

4. bungee jump thrice. i am a person with many phobias, one of which is being ungrounded, thats why i dont swim, or ride horses.. but for sum reason, free falling, bungee jumping, parachuting and paragliding are all on my list of fave outdoor activities! Magno ūüėÄ

5. win a poetry competition, especially when i didnt even submit my poetry myself! back in school (i was 13 bw) i had an amazing english teacher who i entrusted with some of my writings so she would guide me and point out what i should do to make them better, she fell in love with one, and sent it on my behalf and i actually won 3rd place! got it published through the National Library of Poetry in Washington, and was flown over to recite it infront of 5000 people. crazy or what!

6. have a blog, yes, im a private person, and never thought of having a public journal! even though i do not discuss the every detail of my life, but still this is something i never foresaw myself doing..

7. become a vegetarian, especially since i was the ultimate carnivore 7 years ago! i donno i guess i just got over saturated ūüėź i still get forced by my doctor to eat red meat from time to time, but if it were up to me (and if i were anemia free) i wudnt go near my fellow mammals!

so what would be on YOUR list?

regret

Posted: April 29, 2008 in feelings, inside out, sad me, tenzeker ma ten3ad

is something i dont usually feel, since i am convinced that everything happens for a reason and usually all the mistakes and misjudgements that we do in our lives have a lesson to be learnt, and that they happened at a time when we werent in the best mental or emotional state and somehow that makes it ok.. also im a firm believer that if one keeps looking back, one wont move forward..

however,¬†the past few days, and for the first time in my 27 years of living, i feel remorse over an act i have done 3 years ago (exactly 3 years and 4 days ago)… i had a lousy medical¬†procedure which i thought might make things right but failed drasticly, not to mention now i am facing some bad complications that might affect my body forever. in addition to that, there is the monetary cost i will have to pay to rectify what went wrong, and that wasnt at all planned for.. i havent slept since friday, except for 2 hours last night, just¬†thinking of options and solutions and how and when, im waiting to run some tests to assess the amount of damage that happened, and this anticipation and¬†the wait is the hardest…

i just wish i did my homework more thoroughly.. i guess there’s no use in wishing now, except wishing that God will be merciful as He always is..

top ten jobs

Posted: April 29, 2008 in around the world, bla bla bla, boredom, random

that pay around (and over) 100,000 $ p.a.:

1. Marketing Manager: if you can grow sales, maintain great rapport, ‘radar’ potential markets and possess an MBA, you’re likely to earn a 6 figure easily.

2. Health Services Manager: combine a healthcare administration degree, with ten years of experience and you could easily earn 110,000 $ in the US.

3. Information Systems Manager: IT has got to be (along with construction) one of the best paying fields. CIO’s get paid 6 figure salaries minimum.

4. Financial Manager: MBA in finance is a good way to ensure a good pay.. im planning for that, but an MBA is a pending project right now..

5. Human Resources Manager: HR managers usually earn hefty bonuses! of course an HR management degree plus an MBA is required.

6. Fashion Designer: one of the things i wanned to do with my life lol. individuality, creativity, uniqueness, social skills and the right contacts will bring a designer fame and fortunes in this field.

7. Court reporter: initially this job pays about 50k, but since its very demanding, overtime pays almost what the salary does! so they end up in many states making a 6 figure salary.

8. Computer Application Development Manager: this job involves a lot of small team leading and delivering projects on specific deadlines, its a job where leadership pays! too bad i dont like IT :-/ lol

9. Nursing Supervisor: all this requires is a bachelor of Science in Nursing. and targeting excellent hospitals of course..

10: Education Administrator: One who can provide quality assurance and demonstrate people skills and holds a masters degree in education administration of course…

so there you have it, i dint expect some of them but these are jobs that pay in the USA.

All they do is expect
and never once stop to think
constantly commanding respect
when all they want is to see me sink
In river Styx and they seem to neglect
that i want to live in my life and be who i am
that there is a different path i vigorously seek
its not up to them to decide and plan
to bring me down and demand that i be weak
to please their ego and make them feel right
convincing themselves they are strong and in control
yet they are only nurturing my hatred and will to fight
awakening the beast inside as all kindness escaped
from my heart and mind, leaving me with no sense of wrong or right
as I feel my dreams have all been viciously raped
I dream of a place where I can see the light..

random blabber

part of my job description¬†is to call up clients in the US and UK and leave voice mail messages of news headlines that interest us and the latest updates on the stocks we cover. and its amazing how different these two groups of ppl are! in the US, voicemail is huge! not one of the 180+ clients on my database doesnt have voicemail, as opposed to the UK ppl, almost 40% of them dont have it.. i guess the brits dont like listening to anyone’s talk! i’ve always prefered americans to brits.. i cant stand how uptight and chronically polite they are.. but this excercise made me realize that americans are indeed more social and chirpy by nature!

most US clients¬†outgoing msg: Hi, you’ve reached X Y Z from 1 2 3, i am currently away from my desk, please feel free to leave a detailed msg after the beep,¬†thank you and have a good day.¬†

most UK clients outgoing msg¬†if there is one since most of them are those generic recorded stuff ‘extension so and so is not available’ : you’ve reached X WOY Z from 1 2 3, i am not around, please leave your name and a brief msg after the tone. one of them clients actually says: it would be better if you email me rather than leave a msg, but¬†if you need to do so¬†leave one after the tone… (how mistagle3 is that!)

w what i cant still figure out is, are people with full mailboxes all the time really THAT busy? or are they just negligent?

scientists are predicting another 20-30 years of life for frogs around the world.. did u know there are more than 50 different types of frogs? well, there are.. and those species all together have been introduced somehow to a fungal disease recently that is not treatable, and its spreading quite fast.. so unless scientists find a cure to this epidemic if we might call it so, frogs will soon be extinct..

can u imagine that? flies will reproduce like mad along with all other insects frogs feed on, and all those insects will come together and form an evil force of biting, picking, and blood sucking creatures that will rule the world!! sci-fi didi¬†carried away¬†ūüėÄ

but seriously, do u imagine science subjects your kids will have in the future will include a chapter on extinct animals that YOU actually witnessed or maybe even disected in class one day!

…why is it that we obsess with negativity more than positivity?

Being good is boring but turning bad into good will always remain the greatest challenge of our life!¬†We are fascinated by evil, by negativity! Look at literature, the most unforgettable characters are those that personified evil – Macbeth, Heathcliff, Ebenezer.. Perhaps we remember them because in the end they were redeemed…Maybe..¬†I tend to¬†think that dwelling on and thinking¬†of¬†and fearing¬† the negative¬†just contributes to its power..

Negativity’s main component is anger i reckon.. and with that said, i leave you with a beautiful and very accurate ‘Quote of the day’ by Clarendon:

– Anger is the most impotent of passions. It effects nothing it goes about, and hurts the one who is possessed by it more than the one against whom it is directed.

green tea, a fave of mine

Posted: April 15, 2008 in bla bla bla

and now it might become a fave of yours when you read the great things it does to your body! (and tips to make it do them even better!)

green tea is nature’s best anti oxident, so if u wanna keep a glow and age greacefully, green tea is ur best bet! also it flushes away toxins from¬†ur body, which makes it ideal for people who r in the process of losing weight, it helps reduce water retention, green tea helps lower bad cholesterol levels and helps prevent tooth decay! (yes, less dentist time) also green tea helps prevent free radicals, a free radical is any molecular species capable of independent existence, that contains one or more unpaired electrons not contributing to intermolecular bonding, and is, in that sense, “free”, those can cause cancer, aging, DNA damage, and heart disease.. (extra info: smoking and alcohol increase free radicals).. green tea also helps an impaired immune system, in result, it helps prevent infections. there are many many benefits of green tea, and best of all is that it tastes great!

to bring out the best of green tea, the following should be done:

1. dont drink it scalding hot, or when it turns cold.
it is said that any scalding hot liquid that enters the stomach hurts it. so in general, let your beverages cool down a little before you gulp them! as for coolness, cold green tea is said to gather phlegm.

2. Dont drink green tea with meals or on an empty stomach.
drinking tea on an empty stomach causes coldness to enter the lung and stomach system according to traditional chinese medecine.. western medicine suggetss that the alkaline nature of tea conflicts with the acids produced by the stomach. so drinking tea with meals will cause indigestion to people with sensetive stomachs.

3. Dont drink green tea with alcohol or medication.
it can interact with certain medications so better safe than sorry! try to avoid drinking green tea with medications, better have it after 3 hours of taking a pill. also drinking tea closely with alcohol can damage the kidneys and it might cause problems to the sexual system (we dowant that!)

4. Dont drink too much.
as with everything else, drink green tea in moderation. (3 cups is ideal per day).

there you have it! the nutrition post of the month ūüėÄ

financial status,¬†position, social background and nationality… how important are these factors to¬†when chosing and making friends? (whether in school, uni, or work)

O, how i loathe goodbyes.. not all of them though.. just when the closest people leave anywhere for a long time..

i remember when i first went to uni, i was 16 and full of life, still am, but i was full of life and very¬†naive, now i like to think i’ve crossed that stage.. i dint even¬†shed half¬†a tear at the airport saying bye to my parents.. i was¬†so excited to start the adventure of independence! but when i graduated uni, and after 4 years of almost every emotion on earth felt, and the hundreds of friends i made, i left to the airport alone, in a cab,¬†without saying goodbye to anyone.

A silent exit. (drama queen didi)

i felt so helpless yesterday saying goodbye to my better half as he went for a ten day trip home before he leaves to europe for his Phd, and even though its not the first time i bid him farewell, it was more painful the second time around, and i am sure it will be more painful every time to come.. until he is done with his degree or we get married and i move, whichever comes first.. i never drove him to the airport btw.. even when my best friend/more like a sister to me came 2 years ago for a week, i dint take her to the airport, i just cant.

insane? maybe.. but i just cant say goodbye to anyone i love at the airport..i break down like a¬†6 year old and cry my eyes out…¬†im sentimental like that. ¬†

just having a go.. to be continued..

a friend of a friend has recently participated in Dubai Fashion Week, introducing his unique revolutionary interpretation of the traditional crisp white thobe. and i actually like it, thus, sharing it (not advertising it, just sharing it)! Personally i love black and navy thobes.. especially with a colored 7amdaniya..!

ok why is it that¬†most managers these days¬†are¬†complete jerks?¬†the younger they are the worse it gets! seriously! my current boss is the worst i have ever met.. and he is only 34..!! i think being only 34¬†and now having become an MD for MENA Equities for the biggest bank in the world is a big thing.. but whatever happened to being humble bout your acheivements??? being nice to your subordinates?? being considerate and human for a change!?!?!? i mean.. in all my previous jobs, my bosses were amazing il7amdila.. my first full time job was also with¬†a bank, in a team of 4, with a very reputed and¬†‘mehyoob’ 32 y.o.¬†man as a boss, but he was the sweetest thing when it came to the team! he was supportive, funny as hell, and a great listener..¬†and when it came to work, he was strict yet not suffocating. as long as we did our job well, delivered everything on time, he was the happiest, and so were we.. i guess they dont make em this way anymore.. or maybe its the inferiority complex of the nationality i am dealing with right now!

i cant picture myself being the super-micro-managing boss one day, one who doesnt laugh or joke around with her colleagues, one who cant care for anything but numbers and figures.. i am a leader by nature, and i do want to be in upper management someday.. but if tension and pressure from the bosses senior to me will make me an inconsiderate ass, i seriously could do without..

incomplete..

1. Hong Kong: apparently having 4 of the 15 tallest towers in the world will make you the number 1 city!it is beautiful at night though, the magnificent architecture of the high rise buildings in hong kong is breath taking..

2. Chicago: ok im a little surprised since New York is the greatest city in the world in my green eyes! but Chicago was the birth of sky scrapers, surprisingly, they built the first sky scraper in chicago in 1885! the chicago park district is amazing, and the city at night, is a colorful masterpiece.

3. Shanghai: the beautiful city indeed.. although i would freak out and invest in a private jet to NOT drive over the crazy Nanpu bridge, i still cant deny its amazing. buildings are excessively tall, but beautifully designed and unique, and houses are authentic asian beauties..

4. New York:¬†wall street, the opera house, the empire state building, lady liberty, Dylan’s candy shop!! ahhh.. New York, the home of new york cheesecake! this is MY favorite city ever.. noone knows why exactly, but NYC is the most charming city¬†in the world. its on this list (i donno who came¬†up with¬†the list, i received it by email) because its versatile. the culture, the art, the music, the food, the places and faces of New York. i absolutely love it.

5. Tokyo: the most populated city by FAR! 32 million people! Technologically advanced, with great tall buildings, Japan is one of the most sophisticated asian countries, yet it still held on to its traditions. the cherry blossom festivals, the houses, the culture, the music, the geishas, its all so magical! (personally, i love the calligraphy!)

so… whats ur favorite city?

what do women want?

¬†the common question we see women demand an answer for (and almost never get one) is “what do men want?“, but i hereby ask: what do women want?!

im an observer, fascinated by mankind, always looking around to seek answers to yet un-asked questions, studying attitudes and -sometimes- analyzing behaviors.. thats wack i know but thats me! lol. and i keep coming across women who always want to change their men to more sensetive, caring, nurturing creatures who pay attention, cook, pamper and listen more often to anything besides the sound of their own voices.. or always complain that they cant ever meet anyone like that! (rings a bell?)

well i hate to be the bearer of bad news but heck, u wont! not coz they’re extinct, but coz they never existed! these qualities are mostly linked to women.. so i ask, why do women want to change men to women? keeping in mind that women dont even get along with most women! so what do women want exactly?

Sorry seems to be the hardest word.. not!

i think sorry isnt the hardest word to say these days.. i believe “will u marry me” r the hardest words nowadays!!

has it become so hard for men to propose? i mean ok dowry is on the rise, and inflation is a nightmare etc etc of all the materialistic issues.. but im talking love, wanting to spend ur life with someone, the need for stability, wanting a family, craving someone to take care of u and vice versa.. have men and women become so independant that they have have lost the need or want to be married? has it become so common to be in relationships that go nowhere with a sole purpose of hanging out and having fun and passing time that ppl lost the need to be in wedlock? has responsibility towards a family become so unbearable? i really dont get it.. i c girls who r beautiful, intelligent, worldly, decent, and still single after 35. and i come across men who r the perfect examples of the “perfect” men, yet rnt and dowanna get married, what is so scary?

well u might have, i want to post a few of my favorite posts off the old blog.. sadly, the comments r not saved.. wont bore u a lot, its just i wanna keep my old stuff on this blog, since i deleted the first.. they’re only a few ūüėČ

the indian guide to driving..

1. drive as slow as u can, even if u ARE on the left lane, just to irritate everyone around u, go home and smile at ur acheivement!
2. really be proud of ur suzuki 4×4 or any other car not classified as a hip 4×4 and think to urself ‘im the king of the world’ hence drive slowly as mentioned in point 1
3. have all the stuffed animals u can force into ur car, block all visibility and then back to point 1
4. should you be honked at/sworn at/given the finger/flashed all the highest levels of lights in the world, decide it might be another car and do not acknowledge the fury focused on u, and needless to say, keep driving slowly.
5. insist its called ‘veHicle’, stress on the H ..
6. should ur car be remotely scratched in a fender bender, never leave the scene and pull over to the side of the road, the bigger the traffic pile up the better u will feel bout it
7. always sport ur bluetooth device on the left ear and show off the technology u own to the world, it looks cool yaar!
8. ur allowed to stop at any point in the road to drop off/pick up someone from the sideway, the road is urs to abuse!
9. should someone be extremely pissed off at u and knocks on ur window to scream their tonsils off at u, dont even look at them and mind ur own business. keeping the straight face makes u the bigger person.
10. if ur on a bicycle, take any turn at any point and feel free to throw urself on any moving veHicle!

argggh!

what is the matter?

isnt it funny how when ur a 5 year old, anyone who’s ready to jump with you on a bed¬†or¬†build sand castles with you¬†is automatically considered a friend, and if you were to share a sandwich they will be considered a best friend! but when you’re¬†25 or over¬†it becomes so much harder to call almost anyone a friend??

is it the lack of quality people in this day and age? or is it losing the will (which sometimes comes with age) to socialize/give chances/get to know more people to filter and classify a good friend?
